1. Introduction
Petnee ("we", "our", "us") is a pet-friendly place discovery platform operated in Taiwan. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services.
By using Petnee, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy. This consent serves as the legal basis for our data processing activities.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information:
- Email address (via Google, Apple, or Facebook sign-in)
- Display name and profile photo (from your sign-in provider)
Location Data:
- Your current location (only when the app is in use, to find nearby pet-friendly places)
User-Generated Content:
- Reviews, ratings, and photos you submit for pet-friendly places
- Saved places, visited places, and trip plans
- Community posts and comments
Pet & Health Information:
- Your pet's profile (name, breed, weight) and any medication or care reminders you choose to add
- Pet health records you keep in the app (medication schedules, weight records, vet visit notes) and any medical photos you upload (such as prescriptions) — stored under your account, accessible only to you, and deleted along with your account
- Pet stickers: when you create a sticker for your pet, you select a photo from your camera or photo library. That photo is sent to Cloudflare to remove its background (see Section 4). We do not store the photo you selected — only the finished sticker image is saved to your account in private storage
Device Information:
- Device type, operating system version, and app version (for troubleshooting)
3. How We Use Your Information
- Display nearby pet-friendly places on the map
- Personalize place recommendations based on your preferences
- Enable you to write reviews and share experiences
- Send the pet medication and care reminders you set up
- Manage your account and saved data
- Improve our services and fix technical issues
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Petnee:
- Supabase — Authentication, database, and data storage
- Google Maps Platform — Map display and place information
- Cloudflare — Content delivery, edge computing, and image background removal. When you create a pet sticker, the photo you select is transmitted to Cloudflare over an encrypted connection so its background can be removed. Petnee does not retain the original photo. If this step is unavailable, the background is removed on your device instead
- Google / Apple / Facebook — Sign-in authentication

5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on Supabase's cloud infrastructure (AWS ap-northeast-1, Tokyo, Japan) with encryption at rest and in transit. This means your data may be transferred to and processed in Japan. By using Petnee, you consent to this cross-border data transfer.
We implement Row Level Security (RLS) to ensure users can only access their own data. Pet health records and uploaded medical photos are kept in private storage under the same access controls, so only you can view them. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Public vs. private content. Photos you attach to place reviews, your profile picture, and photos submitted for merchant listings are stored in public storage so they can be shown to other users — anyone with the direct file link can view them. Please do not include anything you would not want to be publicly visible. In contrast, your pet's health records, medical photos, and pet stickers are kept in private storage and are only accessible to you through short-lived signed links.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (via Profile > Delete Account), all associated data — including your profile, reviews, saved places, and visit history — will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data through your Profile page
- Modify your display name and preferences at any time
- Delete your account and all associated data permanently via Profile > Delete Account
- Revoke location permissions through your device settings
8. Children's Privacy
Petnee is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us to have it removed.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of Petnee after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
